Our freezer beef animals are born and raised on our grass farm in Navarro County Texas. They roam with the herd on a diet that is 100% forage with no added artificial growth hormones of any kind in the life cycle of our cattle. At about six months of age we provide veterinarian recommended vaccinations and creep feed during the weening phase of the calves development.
We separate the freezer beef animals from the herd in late summer or early fall and start a 20% protein grain supplement added to the pasture forage diet for finishing at least 90 days before processing. This allows our beef to take advantage of the Shorthorn breed genetics in developing outstanding marbling while maintaining the natural flavor of the beef. The cooler fall temperatures allow the animals to efficiently gain weight and with the start of winter, the animals will be delivered to the USDA inspected processor. Our primary freezer beef animals are less than 30 months old at the time of processing.
NOTE: The price per pound includes all the fees from the processing plant. Most pricing is by hot hanging weight (hanging weight before dry aging). We can only provide the hot hanging weight a few days after the processor has the animal. After a minimum of 14 or more days dry ageing and 3 to 5 days of processing the beef will be ready for pickup.
We do offer our beef by the cut and have limited quantities available. Login and check what we currently have for sale.
